Multi-task machines have axes for swing motion in addition to the axes for linear motions, and these swing motion causes thermal deviations necessary to be evaluated. However, they have not been measured and evaluated so far. Then, in this study, we measure and evaluate the thermal deviations with the swing motion of milling spindle head, using two measurement devices that have been already devised for linear axis motions. As the result, the characteristics of the thermal deviation of the multi-task machine are clarified, and the basic guides for their measurement and evaluation will be shown.
