In recent year researchers and industries are trying to reduce the delamination factor when drilling of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). Tool geometry design and process parameters were the main factors in the previous investigation. In particular, this work studies the influence of torsional vibration drilling of CFRP in terms of thrust force, surface roughness and delamination factor of the exit hole. In this experiment, a constant cutting speed of 20 m/min and feed rates of 0.01, 0.025 and 0.05 mm/rev were employed. Two types of drill point geometry were used for the entire tests. The results show that the application of torsional vibration drilling tends to reduced the thrust force and delamination for both drills. However, the value of surface roughness is slightly higher than without torsional vibration drilling.
