Improvements in the productivity of a multi-tasking machine based on an NC lathe have been achieved by the following, 1) improvement in the performance of the machine tool, and faster response of mechanical parts, including shortening the machining time depending on the cutting conditions, 2) reduction in the total machining time by streamlining the process design and the NC program for complicated workpieces, and 3) simplification of the dedicated machining process using a multitasking machine tool. In this study, we investigate improvements to the process design method for multi-tasking machines by referring to a skilled programmer's NC programs.
