The shear flow, affected by the surface roughness of the wall, was studied numerically. Patir and Cheng(4) postulated that the moving rough surface increases the shear flow rate because of the fluid transportation in the valleys of the rough surface. Contrary to this, the shear flow rate is supposed to be decreased for the case of stationary rough surface due to the fluid stagnation in the valleys. We performed the numerical calculation for the moving rough surface and the stationary rough surface, and evaluated the flow rate. It was confirmed that the above assumption is qualitatively true for the case of smaller roughness. However, it is clarified that the effect other than fluid transportation/stagnation possibly acts on the shear flow, in the case of larger roughness.
