The Kan-Etsu Tunnel was opened in October 1985 with the I-line(current outbound line). And Thirty years have passed since the inbound line opened in October 1991.So corrosion and function obsolescence due to aged deterioration and salt damage of anti-freezing agent are increasing. Therefore,it is difficult to secure sound function. In response to these,it is necessary to update and improve various facilities according to the annual plan. Currently,we are updating design of ventilation equipment and introduce the proposal of new ventilation system.
As a result of consideration,we were able to organize the contents to be examined,such as checking the actual environment of the tunnel and securing customers' safety. We will continue to consider the renewal of the Kan-Etsu tunnel ventilation equipment with the first priority on securing customers' safety.
