STEAM教育の推進に向けて機械工学が果たすべき役割について

STEAM education has been spreading in Japan since 2020. In order to promote STEAM education, mechanical engineering plays an important role in Technology and Engineering. However, in modern technology, as described in Society 5.0, information technologies such as AI and Big Data, IoT are the main focus, and the role of mechanical engineering is often overlooked. Therefore, we reviewed the system of mechanical engineering and examined the transition of the mechanical field in the junior high school technology education. As a result, in promoting STEAM education, we came to these conclusions that it is important to teach the functions of mechanical elements such as link mechanisms, gears, and screws in the design of moving objects.
