Abstract
A planetary gear drive using an internal gear finished with a grinding wheel having a trapezoid profile was developed. This planetary gear drive is composed of the internal gear, the planet gear having the profile conjugate to the internal gear, and the sun gear having one conjugate to the planet gear. The conditions that undercutting and tooth tip pointing are not produced on the planet and sun gears are shown and the transmission errors by changing the center distance are calculated. The planetary gears using the super and helical internal gears finished with the trapezoid grinding wheels were designed and made. For comparison, also the planetary gears using an involute spur internal gear were made. The vibration and noise of the planetary gear drives were measured. The difference between both super planetary drives was not observed.
