As nozzle to plate spacing decreases considerably, heat and mass transfer rates at and around the stagnation point increases largely. But, the flow resistance of nozzle-plate system also increases coonsiderably. In this study, the flow and heat transfer characteristics of resonance free-and impinging-jets with very small nozzle to plate spacing H are examined experimentally by changing nozzle contraction ratio, and it is made clear that resonance free-and impinging-jets have a minimum flow resistance at a certain volume and the H. Then, it is considered that heat transfer characteristics of resonance impinging jet can be improved.
