Fracture strength of pipes with wall thinning was evaluated by the elastic-plastic finite element method. The analyses were performed for different materials of the pipe as well as different lengths and angles of the flaw, which is located at inside and outside of the pipe, under internal pressure. The results showed that the failure pressure decreases as the flaw size and angle increases, although it is almost the same for the pipe with outside flaw and inside flaw of the same size. It was also revealed that the fracture strength is dependent on the material, stress-strain curve.
