In the hot strip finishing rolling, a strip is often rolled outside the roll barrel owing to its snake motion. In this paper, a tail crash control with fractional-order PI^αD controller is proposed in order to improve the snake motion of strip, in which the order of I controller is extended to fractional-order. The effectiveness of PI^αD controllers is demonstrated thorough numerical experiments.
