The magnetic recording head with DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) pad is one of the potential solutions to extend CSS (Contact Start Stop) technology to the low head-disk spacing. In the present paper the study of DLC Pad and ABS design was carried out with LZT (Laser Zone Texture) disk and smooth disk. The occurrence of tipping accelerated the wear of DLC pad, lubricant degradation and COC wear on the disk. The results showed that the magnetic recording head, which has optimized ABS and optimized DLC pad, has good anti-stiction capability and enough CSS reliability at 15nm FH on the LZT Media having low bump height.
