An activity on human resource development has been conducted in Meijo University under the METI's educational-industrial complex project for the development of core manufacturing engineers. The postgraduate course is organized by cross functional team from mechanical, electric/electronics and informatics engineering to build up the total manufacturing sense for robotics. From the viewpoint of strength of materials, FEM based learning of structural design of robots is planned and the method for concurrent and optimum material/structure decision making is presented.
