SUS821L1 has been effectively used on bridges and land rocks. However, it has been anticipated that these structures may experience impact loading from earthquakes and tsunamis. It is required to evaluate the mechanical properties of SUS821L1 by impact testing because impact loading yields different mechanical properties than static loading. In this study, a falling drop impact tester with the split-Hopkinson bar method is used to evaluate the impact parameters of SUS821L1. The impact tensile and the static tensile test have demonstrated that the maximum stress is 100MPa greater than the static tensile test and the maximum strain is 3% greater than the impact tensile test.
