5-axis machining centers are often used for machining mechanical parts with complicated shape. There is not any calibration method for the 5-axis machining centers with two rotary axes. In this paper, we have developed a method for evaluating the positional and angular deviations, which are particular to the 5-axis machining centers a measuring method, simultaneous 3-axis control motions are proposed and the ball-bar system specified in ISO 230-1 is used in the measurement. Using the motion, all deviations were estimatd on the basis of the eccentricities of the measured circular arc or circle. The accuracy of the estimated results is also discussed.
