In sinking electrical discharge machining (EDM), using a single tool electrode with the shape obtained from the reverse simulation, a desired workpiece shape can be machined. Given successive plural paths of planetary EDM to machine the desired shape, the solution of the tool electrode shape can be obtained by performing the reverse simulation for each path step by step in the reversed direction. It was found however, the solution cannot always be found for any given paths. Hence, the present work proposes a general method to give the solution by adding extra paths until the reverse simulation can be completed through all the paths.
