This paper deals with the wear behavior progress of the diamond-coated carbide drill when drilling the cemented tungsten carbide. The thrust force and sectional shape of the drilled hole were also evaluated. The diamond-coated carbide drill, which has two flutes, diameter of 1.0 mm, and coating thickness of 20 μm, was used. The diamond coating on the rake face of the drill was flaked immediately after starting drilling, and the thrust force drastically decreased due to generate the sharp cutting edge by flaking coating. The flaking of the diamond coating around corner edge and the margin region were observed, and the shape of the worn drill was clearly transferred to the sectional shape of the drilled hole.
