Measurements by surface electromyography (sEMG) are noninvasive and simple to apply to obtain signals of muscle action potentials. However, the sEMG potentials of muscles near the electrode are superimposed. This paper develops a method measuring individual muscle activity and imaginary joint moment of forearm muscles using sEMG distribution and a conduction model of the forearm. The optimized individual muscle activities and imaginary joint moments are calculated from sEMG with palmar flexion load to 4 subjects. As a result, the imaginary joint moment of the wrist nearly proportional to load was obtained.
