For recent RoboCup middle league soccer, color information has been a major method used to let robots recognize objects. However, such color information can be influenced easily by illuminations. Therefore, it could negatively affect the accuracy of recognition. Our research suggests another method for a robot's ball recognition. The impact of illuminations and noises may be reduced, by adding feathering on the images. Thereby we can expect more sophisticated outcomes. We held an experiment using this system, and compared the images to regular images. We came to a conclusion that images with feathering have more accuracy.
