This paper presents measurement of triaxial stress distributions exerted on a wheel with grousers, which travels on loose soil. The stress distributions are generated based on complicated wheel-soil interaction. According to our previous work, although the grousers play a very large part in a thrust force of the wheel, their triaxial stress distributions on soil remain to be elucidated. Therefore, in this study, we developed a novel single wheel test apparatus for the measurement, and then, measured the triaxial stress distributions exerted on the grousers under different slip conditions. Based on the experimental results, the stress distribution of the wheel in the wheel width direction is quantitatively shown.
