In this paper, a pedestrian traffic signal detection method is described. Firstly, a difference image is generated from images obtained by fixed point observation. When the color of the signal changes, a characteristic pattern appears in the difference image. By searching for the pattern, we find the position of the signal and the timing when the signal changes from red to green.
