Multi-beam optical tweezers are one of the most suitable techniques for the simultaneous and independent handling of many microbeads. Using an electrically focus-tunable lens and a 2-axis gimbal-mirror, we have developed the true-3D multi-beam optical tweezers based on the time-shared scanning techniques. Using a microlens array and a 2-axis gimbal-mirror, we have also developed the costless optical tweezers for assembling large microbead arrays. Using these optical elements, in this paper, we design two types of double-arm optical manipulator systems (dual-beam optical tweezers) for performing various micromanipulation tasks. The periodic pattern consisting of more than fifty microbeads with one system and the crossing of two hexagons in 3D Cartesian coordinates with the other system are demonstrated.
