We are studying how to utilize microorganism as “Living Micromachines”. We found the importance of the operation tool to enhance the ability of the microorganisms. In this study, we have been investigating to attach small operation tool to protists and bacteria. We examined to apply avidin/biotin reaction and optical tweezer system. We succeeded to bond avidin beads on the aimed position of the biotin-coated microorganisms (Euglena, Chlamydomonas and Bacillus subtilis). We also bond two Euglena by a bead. A self-rotation unit was also realized by a microorganism attached a bead on its side. The turning position can be controlled by holding a bead or a microorganism using a laser tweezer. We also bond a biotin-coated Nylon fiber on the microorganism using avidin beads. It means we can make operation tool made of nylon and attach microorganisms to the aiming position of the Nylon tool using avidin beads.
