In recent years there are temples that refrain from bell ringing on New Year’s Eve (Joya no Kane), because some people complain that it is noisy. To inherit the culture of “Joya no Kane,” we built a system called “KANETSUKI-VR,” a VR system that provides the experience of ringing the bell. We created an application for combining visual information and auditory information with the impulsive force reversal structure capable of expressing the impulsive force when ringing a bell, and expression of bouncy feeling due to inelastic collision of wooden bell hammer and bell. Then, we created an application with Unity for combining visual information and auditory information on the impulsive force reversal structure, and constructed software so that capable of to ring the bell in virtual reality. In addition, quantitative evaluation was made as to whether the impulsive force reversal structure was able to control the restitution coefficient in the inelastic collision and system evaluation by the subject.
