Abstract

We propose a method to give pseudo proximity sence to human skin surface using vibration stimulus and its evaluation method. In order to give proximity sense from vibration stimulus, it is necessary to express ”distance to object” and ”position” on human skin.We proposed three kinds of vibration patterns which change the pulse period etc. applied to the vibration motor. In addition, we proposed a method to quantitatively evaluate vibration patterns by measuring two factors, ”resolution” by a single stimulus and ”strength discrimination ability” by multiple stimuli. As a result, it is possible to quantitatively evaluate the vibration pattern transmitting the proximity sense, and it was shown that this method is effective.
