This research proposes and demonstrates a new concept of a wireless film-shaped micropump suitable for local perfusion of biofluids. The film-shaped micropump is integrated with a planar biofuel cell and an electroosmotic micropump array. The micropump is self-powered by immersing it in a fluid containing glucose and oxygen as biofuels. The electric potential by the biofuel cell function generates electroosmotic flows in the arrayed through-holes of the micropump. Therefore this micropump can generate flows simply by being immersed in a fluid containing the fuels. In addition, the film-shaped micropump can be cut like postage stamps and easily placed in any local area. In the future, this micropump is expected to be applied to perfusion of the biological fluids for living cells instead of the heart and vasculature.
