Mechanical vibration stimulation applied to the tendon of a skeletal muscle tends to induce involuntary contraction called tonic vibration reflex of the stimulated muscle and relaxation of its antagonist muscles. It might be used to artificially generate the intended motion in rehabilitation training of stroke patients. In this study, characterization of the tonic vibration reflex caused by giving vibration stimulation to tibialis anterior muscle and gastrocnemius muscle which make ankle plantar flexion and dorsiflexion of the lower-limb is studied.
