Abstract

In this study, we have developed a tactile display device that combines output by electrostatic force and piezoelectric vibration, aiming for a tactile reproduction system that can present complex tactile sensations and is suitable for integration and miniaturization. In the fabricated device, it is confirmed that vibration outputs can be obtained by electrostatic force and inverse piezoelectric effect, respectively, and that by outputting these vibrations simultaneously, a synthesized vibration can be presented. Furthermore, the sensory evaluation of the tactile sensation using human subjects shows that different tactile sensations can be produced depending on the applied voltage waveform and the synthesis of the two types of vibration outputs.
