Creating autonomous robots akin to animals is the ultimate goal in biomimetics fields. However, the biggest challenge lies in embedding numerous controllers to achieve multiple feedback loops, like in the animal body. This study proposes a force-sensitive pneumatic valve, an easy-to-manufacture valve that is a simple control element for a pneumatic system. We fabricated the valve using commercially available urethane tubes and 3D-printed parts and demonstrated its efficacy. With the advancement in such valve manufacturing technology, constructing a distributed control system with 102 to 103 control elements has become effortless.
