Drones are becoming increasingly popular because they can be operated remotely, they can be used by a few people, and they do not require a person to enter hazardous areas. To put drones to practical use in infrastructure inspections, an index for evaluating inspection capabilities is necessary in an environment where the drone’s flight space is restricted. However, when a drone is flown to evaluate inspection items, ”drone flight and control performance,” ”sensor performance,” ”operator ’s skill,” and ”surrounding environment” are intricately intertwined. In this study, an autonomous drone system has been developed to evaluate the ”operator ’s skill. ” The effect of the operator’s skill on the drone’s inspection performance was investigated by comparing the inspection results of the drone’s autonomous system with those of the operator’s control.
