Abstract

Rotating single cell is an important technique for enabling precise cell surgery or 3D observation in fields of cell biology and medicine. We have proposed a method of rotating microobject based on vibration-induced flow (VIF). VIF is a localized flow generated around microstructures when vibration is applied to the structures. By using VIF induced around micropillars with triangular orientation, horizontal rotation of microobject is achieved. In this paper, we controlled the rotational angle of a cell induced by VIF using visual feedback control with voltage as manipulation variable. We successfully controlled the horizontal rotation angle of a cell with an angle error within 1.0°. Furthermore, we performed angle control under various control gains and initial angle conditions.
