Abstract

This study proposes a principle for designing sidewall-driven peristaltic micropumps with high accuracy and high responsivity for single-cell manipulation. Reinforcing the maximum dispensing pressure of the pump is effective for improving responsivity. Therefore, we are groping for the best design of the pump with high dispensing pressure for cell manipulation. We recorded the maximum dispensing pressure for different sizes of pumps and analyzed their trend, and we found that the bigger pump has the stronger dispensing pressure and they can position the particles faster than smaller ones. Furthermore, we found that the largest pumps in those we tested were as accurate as the smaller ones we used to adopt for positioning before.
