This paper describes the development of cooling method of power converter for Shinkansen high-speed train. In the past, switching device of power converter for Shinkansen is cooled by blow caused by the blower. However, the blower has made difficult to lighten a power converter. Therefore, we have studied the cooling method without the blower, by using the train draft. We made an imitation of the train-draft-cooling power converter, and tested in the field at series 700 Shinkansen train. The results proved that this cooling method has possibility to realize.
