Abstract
A design method of an active front wheel steering controller that guarantees closed-loop stability under lateral tire force saturation is proposed. The proposed controller uses information on lateral tire force to counteract the destabilizing effects caused by lateral tire force saturation. The controller suppresses magnitude of the slip angle while lateral tire force is saturated. Effectiveness of the proposed method is shown through numerical simulation results.
