Abstract
Niacin intake of adult women in Osaka Prefecture was surveied in 1972-3. Ages of the subjects were from 18 years to 40 years. Eighty-six of them were picked out from the sample of the national nutrition survey in 1972, and fifteen of them were students of Osaka City University. Mean niacin intake was 17.0±5.48 mg/day/person, 8.21 ± 2.14 mg/1, 000 kcal, and mean niacin equivalents (niacin plus one sixtieth of tryptophan) was 33.1 ±9.49 mg/day/person, and 15.9 ± 3.75 mg/1, 000 kcal. Niacin equivalents were met the Japanese nutrition allowance by most of these subjects. Niacin intake and niacin equivalents were correlated with protein or calorie intake on this survey.
