The 6.3-magnitude earthquake hit Christchurch city, New Zealand on the 22nd of February, 2011. In response to this earthquake, the Japanese government sent the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Rescue team to Christchurch. In this paper, I will briefly introduce the activities of the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), such as INSARAG External Classification (IEC). The good network among international search and rescue teams built through the INSARAG activities, especially between New Zealand and Japan, contributed to the smooth running of activities for the JDR Rescue team in the field at the time of Christchurch earthquake.
