Abstract
This paper investigates the Verb Patterns analysis presented in the 1951 Course of Study for the post-war new academic system in Japan. The analysis classified English verbs into twenty-five patterns, according to the syntactic feature of the verb. This paper discusses the introduction the Verb Patterns analysis into the Japan’s English education system, which resulted from the complex nature of US and Japan’s interactions after the war.
