Clarithromycin (CAM) has been recognized superior to the commonly used Macrolide derivatives erythromycin (EM) in the susceptibility of causative organisms in odontogenic infections. This time, we have tested MICs against Oral Streptococci 79 strains. MIC90 was 0.20jtg/ml in CAM, so far 0.39pg/ml in EM against Oral Streptococci.
Oral dose of 200mg CAM was administered before exodontia in 133 patients. CAM valued ≥0.2μg/ml in 32 out of 45 cases between 120 and 180 minutes.
