The purpose of this research was to examine the new criteria for observational evaluation of throwing motion for students from 1st to 6th grade elementary school. 570 students (304 boys and 266 girls) participated in this research. We had the performance test of softball throwing. The data was analyzed according to the following four measures: softball throwing distance, throwing motion scores. In addition, we compared the new criteria for observational evaluation of throwing motion with the criterion from previous research.
The main results were as follows:
1. The new criterion was shown to be reliable, objective and valid for evaluating the series of motions during softball throwing.
2. Also in the case of throwing motion the new criterion was shown to be statistically better than previous criterion.
However, this new criteria is now complicated and isn’t available to many elementary school teachers. So it’ll be necessary to simplify this new criterion, if many elementary school teachers use it to analyze their student’s motion.
