The relationship between Logical Positivism and the Modern design movement is a recent topic in design history. From a design-historical point of view, this growing relationship can be described as a way of searching scientific design theory. However, in this perspective, we encounter one problem. That is Neurath's very unique stance in not only his philosopical theory and also his activity within the modern design movement. The uniqueness of his stance is briefly described through some episodes such as affair in the fourth CIAM conference. Finally, possibility of a comparative study of two thinkers of "visual language" is suggested : Neurath and Moholy-Nagy.
