In this report the Japanese exhibts from the Centennial Exhibition which were purchased by the two British museums, the Edinburgh Museum of Science and Art (Royal Museum of Scotland) and the South Kensington Museun(Victoria & Albert Museum) are introduced. The Japanese exhibits held by the Royal Museum of Scotland are one bronze vase and ten sets of lacquer ware. The director of the museum was Prof. Thomas C. Archer who was an Executive Commissioner for Great Britain and Ireland at the Centennial Exhibition. The Victoria & Albert Museum holds over two hundred ceramics of Japanese Exhihits by which the director, Philip Cunliffe-Owen, intended to make a historical collection of Japanese pottery and porcelain in this museum.
