Abstract
With an aid grant from the Yamagata prefecture to find applications for a regional resource, the Kaneyama Cedar, this project developed and brought to market, wooden street furniture with the following features; 1) unique design with soft sharp forms which harmonizes with modern urban spaces and has rich quality through generous use of material. 2) special weather proofing measures using decay resistant treatments and structural elements, along with other concepts to absorb wear effects of scars, cracks and fading. This product design stands out as unique among the many typical designs in existence.
