In this paper, the authors discuss a present state of historical museums in Korea. This research is based on a questionnaire survey. As a result of our analysis, the following assertions can be made : (1) It is important for museums to make relationships with local community and residents, and to urge positive participation of residents. Therefore, museums should practice various educational activities which reflect those relationships. (2) The local residents are urged to use museums by museums' activities which promote better relationships between museum and local residents. It is needed to make reconsideration on those relationships in management and activities of museums. (3) Museums should be organized through the proper provision of person and equipment of hardware.
