Diagrams in a textbook have been studied in terms of visual communication design. Subject of this study is a junior high school civics textbook in 2001. All diagrams have been examined one by one and classified by each form type. According to this study, the excess decorations in a diagram appear as visual noise. And it is too hard to understand the diagram that information is much. In addition, total design system is not enough. For example, synonymous lines or arrows ought to be created to the same pattern in a textbook originally. It is necessary to think about not only each diagram but also total design system in a textbook.
