The purpose of this research is a development of healthcare equipment toward reduction of the homehelper's labor in healthcare and a prevention of patients' bedridden situation.First, we analyzed patients'actions around the bed as the center of the healthcare scenes.Next, we classified the existing healthcare equipment according to form, mechanism of operation, etc., and considered the relation between the classification and patients' actions. A walking AID <the walker with a rise-and-fall function> was developed, considering five viewpoints : "self-help", "compact", "care sequence", " independence", and"reduction of healthcare labor", extracted from investigation of the healthcare actual situation.
