This historical study aims the evolutionary process of the National Geographic from the editorial design viewpoint. National Geographic is a prestigious magazine in the world featured the Yellow Border cover and color photography contents. National Geographic was originally published as one benefit of membership in the National Geographic Society as typical academic papers. The characteristic of the magazine has eventually changed to a popular photography periodical which circulation soared from just 165 in 1888 to 8,500,000 today. Alexander Graham Bell basically conceptualized the editorial design policy and Gilbert Grosvenor followed, completed and embodied the principle of the Editorial Standards.
