Industrial value of bamboo in Taiwan during the Japanese occupation

Abstract
This research clarified the actual situation of bamboo production in Taiwan based on literatures of the period Japanese occupation era. As a result, 1) various ways of producing and using the bamboo, 2) a trend of the paper industry under the period, 3) bamboo product education under the policy of colonial industry, 4) bamboo and a sideline, have been described. The fact that Japanese government in the period enforced various measures to improve the quality of life and economic development is clarified by the policies such as industrial education. These results show a part of the values of the bamboo industry in Taiwan in the period of Japanese occupation era.
