Abstract
A field study for human-robot interaction research was tried out at train stations and in trains. The robot acted as a station staff or a train crew. The setup situation was intended to allow passengers to interact with the robot. Beyond such initial settings, the robot`s activities were expanded to play a major role at company-sponsored events like as a company member. We observed that a robot is possible to play a social role in an open community. Designing social acceptability as well as functional, and emotional roles altogether is a key consideration for a robot to be adopted in the society.
