Abstract
Development of the environmental education in the United States is on a higher stage than that in Japan. In this study, we examin the trend of environmental education on teacher education in the United States. Namely, the following subjects are considered. 1. Teaching systems for Environmental Education. 2. Curriculum of environmental education for undergraduates. 3. Curriculum of environmental education for graduates and inservice teachers. 4. Environmental Education Intern. 5. Practice of using local expert. In conclusion, we suggest a way for improving the environmental education on teacher education in Japan. 1. Introduction of interdisiplinary curriculum of environmental education to graduate level. 2. Establishment of council which coordinate the curriculum of environmental education in colleges and universities. 3. Introduction of environmental education intern as presservice teacher education.
