This study compared the descriptions of "fields (physics)" in a lower-secondary science textbook in Thailand (STT) with those in five lower-secondary science textbooks in Japan (STJs). Both STT and STJs include detailed descriptions of magnetic fields. Although STT contains descriptions of electric and gravitational fields, STJs do few. While STT contains few descriptions of "Interaction between current and magnetic field," STJs contain their detailed explanations ("Magnetic field generated by electric currents," "Magnetic force on a current-carrying conductor," "Mechanisms of motors," "Electromagnetic induction," "Mechanisms of dynamos," and "Direct current and alternate current"). While the Japanese lower-secondary science textbooks seem to tend to focus on physical phenomena as applied to daily life, the Thai lower-secondary science textbook apparently covers various basic concepts to learn classical physics.
