This paper describes the measurement system of stratospheric ozone boarded on a Japanese meteorological sounding rocket MT-135 and the modification of the rocket for the accommodation. To directly measure the distribution of stratospheric ozone concentration, an optical ozone dropsonde is developed. The dropsonde is carried by MT-135 rocket to the altitude of 55 km, and descends slowly hung by a parachute measuring the attenuation of solar UV which is absorbed by ozone. The rocket is also modified to be accommodated to the ozone dropsonde. Some examples of measured data are also presented.
